Do you have a message for Joe and Vicki Kieva?

In the March, 12, 2011 issue of RVtravel.com we reported that Joe and Vicki Kieva had received their "pink slips" from the Good Sam Club's magazine Highways. The Kieva's column "RV Insight" had appeared in the monthly magazine for the past 15 years. If you have a message for Joe and Vicki, please feel free to leave it here.

Dear Joe and Vicki,

I am an full time RVer wannabe who has been studying and planning for my RV retirement for the last five years. The economy has extended my launch window further down the road but I am determined to do it. My question to you two is about RV schools. I have seen LOWs classes and a couple of others but they are all in northern or north-western states. And I see where LOW is connected to South Florida, but has no classes here. Wouldn't some RV instructors like to spend some winter days in Florida teaching a class? I would assume than many of them RV this way once in a while anyway. What is up with that. Maybe a school could hook up with Lazy Days RV (they have the room/logistics) or some of the other larger dealers/companies to put on a class. It is a win win for everyone: Students get a class closer to home, dealers promote RVing and sell more units, RV equipment people sell more equipment, and instructors get to enjoy the Florida weather and all the tourist things to do while they are here making money.

Your column is my favorite part of Highways. I had the pleasure seeing you in person at the Penna. RV show, doing one of your seminars. My best wishes for your future success. I hope the GS club will reconsider this move. Pleasant journeys to you both.

Well, you hard-working duo, now it is time to stop and smell the flowers. Hope your four month excursion turns into even more. Enjoy it while you can, the industry will again pick up and lure you back to work. After all, there is only one Joe and Vicki Kieva.

G'day
From my perspective of "down under",here in Aus. it has been great reading your articles and great mental exercise for a senior as I convert the seasons, reading about snow when I am sweltering.
Congratulations on a job well done, guess it was more of a labour of love.
To quote my RV club motto, Laugh more, live longer.

We've been reading you for quite a few years in "Highways." We've had the privilege of attending a couple of your seminars. The first time was at the Pomona RV Show. You were enjoyable and helpful! Will miss seeing your regular columns there, but look forward to reading you through the RV Travel Newsletter.

This latest report would appear to be just one more red-flag with regard to the future of the affinity group. Not being privy to all info, it certainly could be assessed as another "nail" to an inevitable sad ending to a once-great entity. That said, My thoughts are with them in great hopes they will survive.
